Sexual harassment

Sexual harassment is an illegal behavior that encompasses intimidation, discrimination or compulsion of a sexual nature or it can also be defined as the inappropriate promises of rewards in exchange of the sexual favors. These illegal behaviors develop mild contravention and aggravation to sexual abuse. Sexual harassment can be in any form that is it can be inform of language o r actions that portray an annoying behavior towards sexual characteristics. Dziech M. (1990) mostly sexual harassment is as a result of illegal employment discrimination in many of the countries world wide.
There are goals that are certainly being looked upon as a way to prevent the sexual harassment, in business and most of the organization ways of defending the employees from this insults has become a clear definition to the m. therefore organizations have refused to recognize that sexual harassment exists in the organization hence developing ignorance on the sexual harassment education.

Often the harasser might be in a position of power or authority over the victim this can be in terms of age, social power, political, educational or employment relationships. Sexual harassment has a  great effect in the field of psychology that is dealing with the psychological effects of the victim, the harasser should be cancelled psychologically to know the facts that determined to such a behavior, therefore it is the responsibility of the psychologists to determine the process through which enough of the information will be helpful and how the information is illegal to the laws. The psychologists tries to help the harasser and the victim looking at there psychological effects and emotional effects.  Sexual harassment comes in different types and they include.

The psychologist has to analyze the effects that the victim will have  for example performance there might be decreased performance either in the organization, loss of job or carrier, becoming publicly sexualized, defamation of character and reputation and loss of trust in the types of people that occupy similar positions as the harasser .there are ethical principle that govern the sexual harassment , for instance beneficence and nonmalefience enhance that there is no need to do harm and therefore there is need to safeguard the rights and welfare of both the employees and  those  with whom they interact professionally, incase of any conflict t in between the employees it is the responsibility of the manager  to look upon the conflict  and try to resolve the differences in between the employees, the employees need to know  clearly about this principle and how it applies to the employees character and behavior towards one another and its effects on there own conduct . Integrity and competence is an ethical principle that promotes  accuracy, honesty and truthfulness, therefore any person is supposed to be free from any international misrepresentation if  fact hence they should keep there promises and avoid unclear commitments. Employees a re supposed to develop the character of being honest to another and avoid any misconduct behavior that may lead to sexual harassment. When honest is developed between people then respect is also developed and there fore each employee works according to the goals and the performance of the organization. Therefore in situation where sexual harassment has been recognized the leaders should take immediate actions to stop such a behavior. Professional responsibility establishes relationship of trust with those whom they work. Relationship between employees should be explained by mutual respect. Relations hip between employees should be developed to define the performance of the organization, good helpful relationship between the employees promotes a positive  performance in the organization but a Bad relationship between the employees bring s about misunderstanding that may lead to some bad con duct.

Psychologists are experts in human behavior, they are responsible for the evaluation of the presence and the absence of the psychological disorders and offer opinions regarding whether a persons expectations are reasonable. In the assessment of Emotional Factors in sexual harassment there is usually injury cases and physical trauma, emotional trauma and most of all there is the harm of the victim psychology. In this case the psychologists are supposed to look for opinions and offer them regarding both the physical, emotional and physiological trauma. The emotional trauma that is experienced by a victim is always based on the perception about the behavior of others by the victim, there fore psychologists are not qualified enough to determine if sexual harassment took place, because this is an emotional factor not a psychological factor. They can therefore offer opinion that certain action by one individual ca n reasonably lead to emotional distress in another individual, the challenge that psychologist face is that they need to evaluate victims of sexual harassment to access whether they are exhibiting any psychological distress or the distress is related to specific events on the part of another person, this is where the laws comes in to decide whether this actions were legal or appropriate. Sometimes psychologists meet individuals who misinterpret harmless and the individual overreacts to reasonable behavior because of either there own perception of the world and the other person, much of the punishments that psychologists face result when people treat them in unrealistical problem and ultimately the court decide that there is sufficient evidence to conclude that sexual harassment has taken place

The problems on sexual harassment can be reduced by psychologists identifying how behaviors and altitudes can be improved through training programs hiring practices and feedback systems on sexual harassment. The use of the psychological principles on sexual harassment has lead to trial consulting of the legal disputes in sexual harassment.

A worker should uphold the professional standards of conduct and clarify there professional roles and obligations, accept responsibility for there behavior and develop a mutual responsibility of respect to one another. Another principle is respect for people rights and dignity, people have there own rights and they deserve their own dignity and in this case, in sexual harassment to be avoided in the organization workers are supposed to know what are there rights and the dignity. Relationships is another principle between people,  relationship should be clearly understood by employees as a way of maintaining and enhancing the well being of individuals, social groups, families, organizations and communities. Mary P.(2006)

Sexual harassment has highly been developed in many of the countries and in this case there are laws that have been defined to protect people from sexual harassment. Therefore employers are protected under both the state and the federal law against workplace sexual harassment. The federal law remedies for workplace discrimination are based upon the Title VII of the Civil Rights Acts, it prohibits employment discrimination based on race, sex, color, national origin, therefore on he cover of sexual harassment it prohibits both men and women against such misconduct. Therefore under this law same sex sexual harassment can claim against an employer. Aaron L (2003) There are two general categories of sexual harassment in an organization that is the Quid Pro Quo harassment, this defines an employee is supposed to tolerate sexual harassment in order to obtain or keep a job, job benefit, raise, or a promotion.

Conclusion
Sexual harassment has developed wide world, therefore it is the responsibility of people to look upon the sexual harassment  ethical principles and try to follow up what they are expected of them according to there conduct and behaviors. The laws also should be well understood d and be defined in such a way that each person understands them and the effect of sexual harassment on the laws.
