Principled ideology or racism Why do modern racists oppose race-based social justice programs

A-Hypothesis
The study that was under consideration in this article is that whether the modern day racially prejudiced would support or oppose the compensations that victims of abuse received. These victims were physically and sexually harassed at a rural school in the past. Randomly selected individuals were given different readings that involved the minority or the majority groups in Canada. The question studied here is whether the decision to grant reparation is based on racism or on an ethical ideology.

B- Variables
The independent variables of this research were the readings that the participants were provided. The participants were required to read one of two passages which were based on the history of abuses carried out by an orphanage. The participants were than required to rate the readings and findings on two different scales. These scales were the dependent variables in the study being carried out.

C-Results
The results that were seen were as good as expected. The average racism was low in the participants. The mean of the scales was 2.98 and the standard deviation was 0.87. The results also showed the participants to be liberal politically having a mean of 3.53 and standard deviation of 1.27. The background of the victims did not seem to alter the responses of the participants as well.

D-Conclusion
The author concludes this research by stating that the hypothesis of a conservative ideology was proven wrong. Many other studies have also been done to examine the output of modern racism scales. But all the results of the studies were constant and confirming to this articles study. The low rates of modern racism proved that justice policies are not based on the racial difference but on definite and predetermined principles.
