Stress Disorder Vs Psychotic Disorder

Psychological disorder can range from short term to long term period. There are various psychological disorders that can be caused but on the other hand some are born with it. Two types of Psychological disorders which will be discussed further are Stress Disorder and Psychotic Disorder.
Stress Disorder usually termed as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder are caused by sudden trauma that leads one astonished due to sudden events such as death of a loved one, natural disaster, child abuse and etc. According to Kienlen, signs of post traumatic disorder result in behaviors that are irrepressible for the patient and the ones around them such as anxiety, panic attacks, loss of interest in the world, fear and etc.

Children, elderly people and to some point women are victims of stress disorder due to child abuse, rape or death of a loved one which results in the symptoms mentioned above.

Treatment for such patients require great deal of help from support group such as people suffering from the same disorder as it helps patients to discuss events with each other. Secondly one should go for psychotherapy such as cognitive or stress therapy where the therapist can help the patients overcome their stress by discussing their problems. Thirdly doctors can prescribe medicine such anti depressant pills which are the least affective method for patients to overcome their stress (Kienlen 1).

Conversely psychotic disorder is mental disorder in which ones personality is disordered
and finds reality situation confusing thus interprets the  world in terms of hallucination or
delusion. Examples are schizophrenia, multiple personality disorder and etc. Such patients are in born with it and find difficulty copying in reality situations as their imagination prevail over reality situation thus making them feel that they can see what they are imagining.  Treatment for such patients requires great deal of support from counselors such as psychologists, family and friends, along with medications called antipsychotic (Miller, 2009).

To conclude the difference between stress disorder and psychotic disorder is that stress disorder is caused due to sudden event trauma which affects ones mentally, where as psychotic disorder is an inborn illness or a personality clash with the reality.
