Sociology is the study of how society is organized and how we experience life. It is considered to be the study of human social behavior, especially the study of origins, organization, institutions, and development of human society.

Is sociology a science
To understand whether sociology is a science, we need to know what science is. Science is knowledge. But, information by itself is not knowledge. Science is systematized information, acquired by methods like observation and experimentation. Hence, sociology is a science in its own rights as it does follow observations and experimentation on human life, but may not be as seen in experimental science.

What makes sociology a scientific discipline
Many of the sociologists in 19th and 20th century believed sociology to be natural science. But there are few areas in sociology where experimentation is difficult. Since individual, group and society are the pillars of sociology, it is difficult to conduct experimentation. Max Weber in 19th century contended that there cannot be an objective science for society. It was argued that any sociologist is at once a product of the process of observation and understanding. A sociologist, therefore, questions the beliefs of the society by observation. It should also be noted that sociology, too, just as other sciences, seeks knowledge on reality ground.

Area of research in social psychology
I would be interested in the area of social relationships. Social relationships play a vital role in the society to shape our behavior, feelings, and thoughts. It also studies about interpersonal relationships like liking, love and attraction. Hence, I would like to get to the roots of each behavior pattern of human being to better understand the development of human relationships.
