Career Self Assessment
Reflecting on the Kuder assessment taken, it can be seen that the process remains to be effective especially among adults who seek a shift in their professions. The three types of assessment provide different perspective on the individual not only their skills but also in the ability to generate and integrate each one in accordance to the need of their chosen careers. By effectively understanding these elements, it can foster greater inputs in harnessing favorable outcomes in the chosen career (Kuder, 2009).
In particular, the Career Search and Person Match together with the Skills Assessment are a good combination in determining not only ones suitability in a particular working environment but also infuse the appropriate skills necessary to be competent in each one (Kuder, 2009). In the process, it can harness greater participation and motivation for the individual to seek out the best careers that can suit hisher purpose.
Likewise, the Supers Work Values Inventory is also a relevant assessment tool that induces and allocates what proper avenues are taken by the individual. Since each one varies in their priorities, this evaluation analyzes important principles that connote to their needs and supplement each one with a corresponding principle that shapes these ideas altogether (Kuder, 2009). In essence, it seeks to highlight and diversify the realm of what makes people fulfilled and motivated in each profession that the person aligns with and chooses.
Analyzing these three assessments, I do feel that each one can greatly contribute to my need of developing a comprehensive in career counseling by opening up new options that can supplement and enhance the process of understanding what motivates and inspires people in choosing their profession. By becoming open towards identifying new patterns related to career counseling it can develop new dynamics in harnessing a holistic approach in the process.
Similarly, in addressing this information, careful attention must be made accordingly. This means that careful consideration must be made in the way it is applied towards these approaches and utilize the most appropriate one for each case. Despite the need to comprehend all these principles, I believe that a good career counselor also balances the appropriateness as it applies to the person, reality, and the professional environment.
In terms of the usage of self assessment in career counseling inventories, I do feel that it shall also be an important aspect in the future in determining the appropriate career path for an individual. This remains critical because it harnesses a personal touch to the choices made and becomes appropriate in accordance to the personality and needs of the individual. Despite the occurrence of other options available, I still believe that this format shall remain significant in the way career counselors provide direction towards students and professionals alike.
Analyzing further the principles of career counseling, I deem that its purpose and value remains not on the capacity to point out appropriate avenues for professionals to seek. Rather, it seeks to complement and serve as a guide for people in establishing the proper direction and mindset in accordance to different factors (e.g. personality, motivation, skills, etc.). Seeing this, the idea of fostering career counseling resounds on the consensus and interaction between the counselor and the individual in determining the appropriate venues wherein the person can utilize and strengthen their corresponding skills as it applies to the field of interest.
Moreover, the process also entails considering new assessments that can test and determine the validity of these claims. In essence, it not only fosters responsible approaches in counseling but also make the practice remain accountable to the needs of individuals. In turn, it creates a better view in comprehending career growth and practice of effective approaches towards supplementing the desire for personal development.
Applying the case of career counseling to a high school freshmen seeking direction, the approach here is to provide different options for the individual that can seek to determine hisher personality as well as eminent skills that are valuable to a particular occupation. In here, careful examination must be made in the way their responses adhere to needs of todays work environment and correspond to what they really want.
For an individual with a degenerative eye disease, a career counselors approach should seek to consolidate a work environment that will not require visual abilities. In here, careful judgment and classification must be made in organizing these processes accordingly such that it can further skill acquisition and development. Seeing this, a specialized assessment should be made wherein the individual is asked to take and study patterns that can induce better results to help further gain motivation and work productivity.
Lastly, for a Honduran immigrant seeking to learn the language and seeking citizenship, the assessment must focus on what variables and conditions are necessary for these to take place. In here, the career counselor can device a testing scheme to determine competence and advice the individual to study and work at an environment where interaction is minimal. Since this process is only temporary, careful examination of competence with language must also be seen so as to provide a timeline for the Honduran immigrant to pursue. It is through such process that the person can fully utilize hisher skills regardless of the language and citizenship barrier.
