Samantha, an average student and the first born in a family of five was caught smoking marijuana on school grounds. She was adamant to see a counselor and her parents being important people in the society she threatened to exploit their influence if she is forced to see the counselor or punished.

Client SummaryInitial Clinical Impressions
Having never seen a counselor before Samantha exhibits defiance showing that she is in denial of her psychological problem.

Most of the psychological problems are coupled with the inability to control oneself, Samanthas inability to follow school rules is a sign of this psychological problem

Samantha, a sixteen year old first born in a family of five is an average student whose parents happen to be influential members of the society. She has recently been caught smoking marijuana on school grounds and is adamant to see a counselor.

Crisis Situations
After the evaluation of Samanthas case there are not any signs of a crisis. Although an elaborate analysis for depression should be conducted incase there is increase in her deviant behavior.
Steps to stabilize client.

Samantha is defiant and angry, it is important that her emotions are stabilized and her relationship with her friends and family is investigated.

Problems and goals
The primary goal in Samanthas case is to eliminate her practice of drug abuse.
The goal of therapy is for Samantha to assess herself self examination is an important part of her therapy so that it may be easy to know her and to understand the root of her unhappiness.

Developing coping strategies that will help Samantha cope with her adjustment to the new environment since she recently changed schools and has been trying to adjust to her new environment.

It is also important to prevent relapse of drug abuse, this is supportive therapy which will focus optimally on Samanthas normal daily functioning. This is important in order for Samantha to begin her recovery and equip herself with skills that will prevent her from slipping back into drug abuse
Attitude adjustment should also be addressed in the process of therapy.

The goal of therapy will assist in provide a measurable outcome for the counseling process. During the counseling session we will address two kinds of goals, the primary goal which is the basic outcome that is desired by the patient and the secondary goals which are the other benefits that can be attained through the counseling process. These goals will be obtained though collaboration between me as the counselor and the patient, Samantha

Problem 1 history of abuse

Objective 1 Samantha should talk about her history of drug abuse and the relationship she has with her friends and family.

Interventions
1. Assess Samanthas history of drug abuse.
2. Understand Samanthas family history, including possible bad experiences in her childhood for example trauma.

Measure for objective 1
How open will Samantha be regarding her use of toxic substances The more she talks about it the better.

Objective2
Samantha should accept and knowledge that drug abuse is a vice and unhealthy for her.

Interventions
1. Educate Samantha on the dangers of smoking marijuana in the long run.
2. Educate Samantha about the importance of maintaining a healthy body and mind.
Measure for objective2
Samanthas acknowledgment that marijuana is harmful for her body and mind

Attitude and behavior

Goal 1
Discuss with Samantha the kind of relationship she has with her family and friends.
Objective1
1. Identifying unresolved issues between Samantha and her relatives and friends that may cause tension and stress
2. Reframe her idea of a relationship and show her how valuable and necessary it is for development.

Objective2
Samantha should find better ways of expressing her emotions
Interventions
1. Educate Samantha on the importance positive emotional expression while maintaining good relationship with authority.
